About The Position

Linguava is seeking driven and committed language specialists to provide on-site interpretation services. As a fast-growing Language Service Provider, Linguava values its independent contract interpreters as a crucial part of the company's success. In this role, you will offer on-site interpretation and on-demand sight translation for Linguava's clients, patients, and their families, ensuring effective communication in various medical settings.

Requirements

Certified or Qualified Healthcare Interpreter through the State Of Oregon (OHA). Linguava assists eligible candidates who meet all other requirements with this process.
Native or near-native fluency in both English and Cantonese.
Pass Linguava’s Language Evaluation and skills test.
Reliable transportation (daily travel required).
Excellent listening, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Medical field experience.
Bilingual skills utilized in a professional or medical setting.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site interpretation services for individuals and/or families who do not speak English at predetermined locations for in-person medical appointments.
Interpret during hospital admissions, hospital discharges, clinical visits (including specialty clinics), outpatient surgeries (pre-op and post-op), outpatient diagnostics, schools, and emergency room visits.
Follow all Linguava and client protocols as outlined in the Linguava employee handbook and national standards of practice.
Educate patients, families, and providers on the interpreter's role.
Check in and out of appointments punctually and remain for the full scheduled duration.
Manage an organized schedule, ensuring no appointments are missed or double-booked.
