Requirements

  • A degree/diploma in journalism or related field with proven experience related to journalism
  • Knowledge of content management systems, Canadian Press News Style, writing headlines and copy editing (web team)
  • A strong ability to articulate and effectively communicate issues relevant to Indigenous communities
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of broadcast technology

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Nation to Nation
  • Initiate, research, and pitch original story ideas on a daily basis
  • Write and develop approved stories for multi-platform use, ensuring accuracy and editorial quality
  • Cover breaking news by evaluating leads, interviewing sources, and assessing relevance for target audiences
  • Prepare scripts and story packages, including recommending visuals and collaborating with the team to finalize content
