Requirements

A degree/diploma in journalism or related field with proven experience related to journalism
Knowledge of content management systems, Canadian Press News Style, writing headlines and copy editing (web team)
A strong ability to articulate and effectively communicate issues relevant to Indigenous communities
Strong computer skills and knowledge of broadcast technology
A valid driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract

Responsibilities

Initiate, research, and pitch original story ideas on a daily basis
Write and develop approved stories for multi-platform use, ensuring accuracy and editorial quality
Cover breaking news by evaluating leads, interviewing sources, and assessing relevance for target audiences
Prepare scripts and story packages, including recommending visuals and collaborating with the team to finalize content
