About The Position

QUT Online delivers world-class learning through degrees specifically designed for the online student. Each degree is tailored to provide opportunities for students who are often unable to undertake university studies on campus. At QUT Online, the student is at the forefront of everything we do. This role is an opportunity to support and guide our students through their learning journey. Our Online Learning Advisers (OLAs) are the subject matter experts who facilitate the student’s learning, with a focus on helping them achieve their goals. We're looking for a highly experienced sustainability leader who can bring contemporary industry practice and real-world insight into the virtual classroom. We are looking for someone with five years' experience leading sustainability initiatives across complex organisations, with expertise in strategic design, change management, systems thinking, and multi-sector or supply chain sustainability approaches. They will be an innovative and forward-thinking professional with strong emotional intelligence, capable of engaging and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders. Passionate about creating meaningful impact, they will be able to connect sustainability theory with practical application, inspiring students through authentic industry experience and leadership.

Requirements

  • Minimum Masters in a relevant degree
  • 5+ years practical experience in sustainability projects, strategic design, change management and multisectoral/supply chain approaches
  • Design and/or Systems Thinking
  • Emotional intelligence

  • Innovation
  • Tertiary teaching experience preferred
  • Understand the challenges faced by online learners
  • Able to manage time and responsibilities independently
  • Comfortable navigating online learning platforms
  • Passionate about helping students succeed
  • Flexibility to work sessional part-time: 8 hours per week. Hours may increase depending on assessment/marking cadences and the number of student groups you support.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate learning activities that engage and retain students
  • Mark assessments and provide meaningful, constructive feedback
  • Support communication through discussion boards, emails, and live sessions – ensuring visibility to students every 24-48 hours
  • Collaborate with academic teams to maintain unit quality
  • Uphold OES values to foster a positive team culture and student experience
