About The Position

The Online Grocery Pick-Up Clerk, working as an In-Store Grocery Shopper, selects and gathers products for customers’ online orders efficiently while ensuring freshness and quality. The role includes assembling orders, processing coupons and payments, communicating with customers about substitutions or exceptions, and delivering and loading orders into customers’ cars at pickup. The clerk provides a positive customer service experience and demonstrates the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position requires following food-safety procedures, applicable laws, and company guidelines; maintaining accurate orders and properly storing products in appropriate temperature zones; and keeping staging areas and equipment organized and clean. The clerk also reports discrepancies or equipment issues, performs opening and closing procedures, assists with training new team members, and meets productivity standards. Work may involve a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment and interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Requirements

Ability to work without supervision.

Responsibilities

Select and gather products for customers’ online orders efficiently, ensuring freshness and quality.
Initiate and complete the selection process for online orders.
Assemble orders, process coupons and payments, and deliver and load orders into customers’ cars at pickup.
Scan and bag orders while following bagging standards.
Communicate substitutions or order exceptions to customers at pickup.
Meet or exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness, and cleanliness.
Follow local, state, and federal laws, food-safety procedures, and company guidelines.
Receive orders from the Order Selector and store products in appropriate temperature zones.
Read and follow directions in order notes.
Communicate with customers by portable phone and respond professionally and promptly.
Retrieve orders from staging locations, verify accuracy, and load them into customers’ cars.
Process orders through the point-of-sale (POS) system.
Follow policies and procedures for selecting appropriate substitutions when items are out of stock.
Maintain the organization and cleanliness of staging areas and equipment.
Report pricing, scanning, item-location, and invalid-temperature-type discrepancies to the store e-Commerce supervisor.
Inspect equipment and notify the store Pick-Up supervisor or other store management of items needing repair.
Perform required opening and closing procedures.
Assist in training new e-Commerce team members.
Meet or exceed productivity standards.
