One to One/Therapeutic Behavior Aide
About The Position
Sheppard Pratt School in Gaithersburg is a nonpublic special education day school providing year-round educational, therapeutic, and daily living services to students aged 12 to 21. The One to One/Therapeutic Behavior Aide joins a collaborative learning environment supporting students’ cognitive, social, and emotional growth. The role may involve supporting a teacher as a paraprofessional educator and/or working with an assigned student as a dedicated one-to-one aide. It offers entry-level experience for people interested in careers such as special education teaching, registered behavior technician (RBT), or board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA). The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the position is in person. The posting lists a starting pay rate of $18.50 per hour and a pay range of $19.00 to $22.95 per hour. Pay is determined by factors including years and level of related experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Support the teacher as a paraprofessional educator and/or work with an assigned student as a dedicated one-to-one aide.
- Support Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives by documenting student progress and providing additional instruction and structure.
- Provide educational and adaptive behavior support.
- Provide behavior intervention and treatment.
- Lead classroom activities as opportunities arise.
