One to One/Therapeutic Behavior Aide
About The Position
Sheppard Pratt School in Glyndon provides year-round special education and therapeutic services to students in grades K–12 with a range of needs, including autism, emotional disability, intellectual disabilities, other health impairments, specific learning disability, and speech or language impairment. The school is located on a 43-acre campus with nature trails, a greenhouse, and a sensory-friendly playground. The One to One/Therapeutic Behavior Aide joins a collaborative learning environment supporting students’ cognitive, social, and emotional growth. The role provides entry-level experience in special education and may be relevant to people pursuing careers such as special education teacher, registered behavior technician, or board-certified behavior analyst. The aide supports teachers as a paraprofessional educator and/or works with an assigned student as a dedicated one-to-one aide. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in person. Starting pay is $18.50 per hour; the listed pay range is $18.50 to $22.95 per hour, with pay determined by factors including years and level of related experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Support the teacher as a paraprofessional educator and/or work with an assigned student as a dedicated one-to-one aide.
- Support Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives by documenting student progress and providing additional instruction and structure.
- Provide educational and adaptive behavior support.
- Provide behavior intervention and treatment.
- Lead classroom activities as opportunities arise.
