One to One/Therapeutic Behavior Aide
About The Position
Sheppard Pratt School, located within Severn River Middle School in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, offers a 10-month special education program serving students in grades six through eight, aged 11 to 15, with autism spectrum disorder, emotional disabilities, and related disorders. The unique location within Severn River Middle School grants access to shared facilities and resources, and students are exposed to general education peers and classes. This position is based out of the Severn River Middle School, but may occasionally be needed at Sheppard Pratt's other Anne Arundel County locations. This role offers rich, entry-level experience in special education, suitable for those aspiring to careers such as special education teacher, registered behavior technician (RBT), or board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA).
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the teacher as a paraprofessional educator and/or working with assigned student as a 1:1 dedicated aide.
- Supporting Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives by documenting student progress and providing additional instruction and structure.
- Providing educational and adaptive behavior support.
- Providing behavior intervention and treatment.
- Opportunities for leading classroom activities.
