About The Position

Under the supervision of a teacher, the One-to-One Paraprofessional provides direct service to an individual student and participates in the daily instruction and activities of the assigned school, program, and class. Duties beyond normal classroom activities correspond to the individual student's needs. Students may have a range of disabilities or diagnoses, may speak a language other than English, and may be assigned to any school in the district, including examination schools where they may participate in advanced coursework. The position is an anticipated vacancy: the incumbent may rescind their retirement, leave, or resignation until the expected vacancy date. Hiring is not confirmed until the position is vacated; if it is not vacant by the start of the school year, the hire may begin as a Long-Term Substitute. Some assignments may require a paraprofessional of a specific gender due to toileting needs or the student's individual history. School start and end times and school-day lengths vary; some schools have an expanded school day through the Schedule A Expanded Learning Time agreement.
