About The Position

Mass General Brigham is expanding its oncology services and is hiring Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) for various settings including inpatient, ambulatory, infusion, and palliative care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. This is an opportunity to practice within a nationally recognized academic health system at the forefront of cancer care, whether you are an experienced oncology APP or have a strong acute care or hospitalist background. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed provider responsible for the assessment and management of various patient populations, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing care plans, and ongoing evaluation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current or eligible for Massachusetts NP licensure
  • National board certification required (e.g., AANP, ANCC) for Nurse Practitioners
  • Current or eligible for Massachusetts PA licensure
  • NCCPA certification required for Physician Assistants
  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner required
  • Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner preferred
  • Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology experience preferred
  • Candidates with strong acute care, hospitalist, or related experience are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
