About The Position

Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute is expanding oncology services and hiring for Oncology Physician Assistants (PAs) across inpatient, ambulatory, and infusion settings at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. This role is within a nationally recognized academic health system at the forefront of cancer care. Opportunities are available for experienced oncology PAs or those with a strong acute care or hospitalist background. The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant required.
  • Physician Assistant [State License] - Required.
  • Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred.
  • Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the inpatient setting.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
