About The Position

Armstrong Collective is the parent company of Rocky Mountaineer and Canyon Spirit, offering unforgettable rail experiences in Western Canada and the American Southwest. This is a seasonal, full-time contract position running through early to mid-October, with a preference for candidates available from August 21 or August 28 and able to work the full assignment without pre-planned absences. The Onboard Server reports to the Guest Services Manager and is accountable for delivering service excellence in the dining room, enabling the creation of life-changing experiences. This includes the delivery of all food & beverage services. The position is deemed Safety Sensitive and requires adherence to onboard safety standards, reporting violations or hazards, and providing support in emergencies. It also involves periodic access to an active railway area where impaired performance could lead to significant incidents.

Requirements

  • Serving It Right (SIR) or Proserve is required
  • BC Food Safe certification is required
  • Fluency in English language
  • Valid form of ID for domestic travel requirements (passport, driving license, etc.)
  • 2+ years of service delivery in a full-dining (food and beverage), luxury/fine-dining establishment is required
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming environment for guests by anticipating their needs, being attentive, and providing a high-quality guest experience.
  • Resolve guest-related concerns by listening with empathy and providing timely resolution.
  • Deliver meal services as per established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in a positive, polished, and professional manner.
  • Perform ongoing railcar maintenance, including railcar set up, maintaining cleanliness in galleys, washrooms, and all guest-facing areas, and ensuring correct inventory levels.
  • Adhere to waste management and reduction initiatives, including composting and recycling programs.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, with flexibility to work in multiple railcars with varying teams.
  • Apply the One Team approach in execution of duties both on and off the train and across all departments.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication.
  • Adhere to all applicable Health Canada regulations.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of work spaces.
  • Be knowledgeable about dietary requirements and food safe practices.
