About The Position

This is a summer student employee position for the Lafayette Campus at South Louisiana Community College. The role involves providing administrative and office support within the Academic & Student Affairs department. The position offers opportunities to develop and strengthen knowledge and skills related to employment in a professional environment, with a focus on customer service, professionalism, and workplace etiquette. The appointment dates are from July 1, 2026, to July 31, 2026, with a salary of $10 per hour and a maximum of 25 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Current SoLAcc student
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours for the Fall 2026 semester
  • Completed 2026-2027 FAFSA on file with SoLAcc
  • Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing outstanding service to students and other internal and external customers.
  • Providing day-to-day administrative and office support for the assigned department.
  • Communicating effectively with students and others as directed via telephone, email, and in face-to-face settings.
  • Completing a diverse set of tasks designed to develop and strengthen knowledge and skills related to employment in a professional environment.
  • Working independently within a team on special and ongoing projects.
  • Demonstrating a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Ability and endurance necessary to work the hours needed to complete the job.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings.
  • Regular attendance.
