Christian Health is seeking an On-Call Maintenance Technician I for The Liberty in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, a community with 64 affordable one-bedroom apartments for seniors and veterans. The position provides after-hours emergency coverage, focused on resident safety, preventing property damage, and addressing urgent building or resident-related maintenance concerns until regular maintenance staff or management can respond. It is not intended for routine maintenance, non-emergency work orders, or general after-hours maintenance services. The technician remains available during assigned on-call hours, assesses emergencies, takes reasonable immediate action when safe, and coordinates with approved vendors, contractors, emergency services, utility companies, or other resources as needed. The role also includes documenting calls and actions, notifying the appropriate supervisor or Resident Director about significant issues and follow-up needs, and removing community trash and recycling on assigned weekend days. On-call coverage is every other week from Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., and every other weekend for 48 consecutive hours on Saturday and Sunday. Trash and recycling removal requires one hour on each assigned weekend day. Compensation is $200 per on-call rotation, $25 per hour for time worked on site while on call, and $25 per hour for trash and recycling removal. Specific on-call responsibilities, expectations, and scheduling details are reviewed with candidates during the interview process.
