On Call Consulting Power Supply Engineer

Northrop Grumman•Rolling Meadows, IL
•$202,500 - $303,700

About The Position

The On Call Consulting Power Supply Engineer designs and develops power conversion architectures using technologies from Linear Technology, Texas Instruments, and other integrated circuit manufacturers. Applications include gigabit serial interfaces, radio-frequency and electro-optical digital signal processing, controls, data links, and embedded processing platforms, with power outputs ranging from less than 1 mW to greater than 10 kW. The engineer works with system, subsystem, and hardware engineers to define requirements, develop circuit topologies, and design printed wiring board layouts. Designs are verified through SPICE simulation, laboratory verification, and formal qualification against electrical and mechanical environmental requirements, electromagnetic environmental effects requirements, and EMI/EMC compliance requirements. Support extends from requirements definition through integration and test, with design documentation and configuration management maintained throughout the product life cycle. The broader Power Design Engineering work involves full life-cycle product development, including concept-to-production development, test, and integration for electronic warfare, imaging, and embedded control systems. The salary range is based on a full-time schedule and will be prorated if the schedule is reduced. The position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. No travel or relocation assistance is offered.
