About The Position

The Islands of Islamorada is seeking a bartender to join their team of experienced hospitality professionals. This role involves greeting, directing, seating, and taking food and beverage orders, serving guests in accordance with company standards, and adhering to all beverage pour and recipe standards. The bartender will communicate inventory needs, be knowledgeable of all food, wine, beer, alcohol, and specialty cocktails, and possess conscious wine knowledge with the ability to make pairing suggestions. They will utilize suggestive selling methods to drive revenue growth, communicate daily specials and specialty menus, and practice safe serving practices related to alcohol service. The position requires being perceptive, proactive, and engaging, anticipating guest needs, and personalizing the guest experience. Responsibilities also include completing pre-shift preparation like stocking garnishes and creating syrups, completing side work and closing tasks such as cleaning and restocking, polishing glassware, making coffee, tea, and espressos, preparing and presenting bills, and checking out with a manager. Maintaining cleanliness and safety in all areas, assisting team members, and attending meetings and training sessions are also key. Compliance with all company policies is expected.

Requirements

1+ year professional bartending experience at a full service bar.
High School diploma/GED
Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong beverage knowledge with understanding of cocktail recipes and basic wine and beer familiarity.
Able to complete a satisfactory background check
Available and willing to work flexible hours based on business needs including weekdays and weekends.
Expresses sincere enthusiasm for the role and passion for food and beverage
Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion.
Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.
Ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours
Ability to lift items overhead.
Ability to bend and reach frequently and repetitively during a shift.
Ability to remain in a standing or walking position for 90% of shift, given moderate rest breaks.
Ability to move up and down stairs
Ability to move quickly based on guest needs
Ability to regularly move and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to use repetitive manual dexterity, such as typing, polishing, using hand tools, and fixing small items
Ability to bend, stretch, and reach frequently, including above head, and repetitively during a shift
Ability to bend and kneel
Ability to visibly survey property areas clearly
Ability to view a digital computer/tablet screen
Ability to communicate and exchange information effectively, often in a public/group setting
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Ability to perform assigned tasks, operate equipment, and complete job duties in a safe manner

Responsibilities

Greet, direct, seat, and take food and beverage orders.
Serve guests in accordance with company standards.
Adhere to all beverage pour and recipe standards.
Communicate inventory needs to appropriate manager.
Be knowledgeable of all food, wine, beer, alcohol, and specialty cocktails offered.
Make wine pairing suggestions.
Use suggestive selling methods to drive revenue growth.
Understand and communicate daily specials and specialty menus to guests.
Understand and practice safe serving practices as they relate to alcohol service.
Be perceptive, proactive, and engaging, anticipating guest needs and personalizing the guest experience.
Complete pre-shift preparation such as preparing and stocking garnishes, pre-mix, and ice. Create syrups and in-house infusions.
Complete side work and closing tasks as required such as cleaning, sanitation of ice bins, and restocking for next shift.
Properly open and close beer taps.
Polish glassware, record any breakage.
Remove trash. Restock service stations and service bar areas.
Make coffee, tea, and espressos.
Prepare and present final bill to guest for payment. Obtain settlement and process using the POS system with adjusted tip if noted.
Check out with manager once shift is complete.
Practice cleanliness and safety in all dining areas, liquor and wine storage areas.
Assist team members as needed to promote a positive teamwork environment.
Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued.
