About The Position

The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission is looking for an organized individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for customer service to join their team. This customer-focused role offers an exciting opportunity to dive into the world of horse racing and gaming regulation in Nebraska. While this position is based in Grand Island, it will be expected to travel regularly to license individuals at racetrack/casino properties in Ogallala and Columbus.

Requirements

Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency.
Experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.
This job requires regular, reliable onsite attendance.
Position requires regular in-state travel that may include weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
NRGC employees are prohibited from gambling or placing a wager in any establishment licensed by the Commission.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Friendly and helpful attitude.
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external customers.
Proficient in using computers and the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Capable of understanding, interpreting, and applying various rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and laws.
Must be able and willing to travel to other NRGC locations, primarily Ogallala and Columbus, weekly, biweekly, or as needed.

Responsibilities

Provides administrative support to the front desk, including duties such as sorting mail, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and greeting guests.
Handles the daily processing of licensing applications, including answering applicant questions, reviewing applications, data entry, obtaining fingerprints, processing payments, and maintaining spreadsheets.
Coordinates renewal notices to ensure licensees maintain their status.
Maintains secure files and handling confidential information for applicant records.
Supports the Commission with additional administrative or operational tasks as needed.
