About The Position

The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. You are NOT required to be a member of the Oregon National Guard to apply for this position. The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for an Office Specialist 2. This is a limited duration full-time state position with funding expected through October 2027. This position is located at the Rees Training Center in Hermiston, Oregon. This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ (AFSCME) union. NOTE: This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents OR An associate degree in any field OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must have and maintain a favorable Criminal background History check and be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Department of Defense National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Suitability Determination (T1).
  • Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM’s, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.
  • A current resume that clearly describes your experience and/or education related to the requirements of the position and demonstrates that you meet the minimum requirements of the position as listed.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S without a visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with reservations and software that is used to make and edit reservations.
  • Experience processing credit card payments, cash handling, till and deposit reconciliation and investigating discrepancies preferably in a hotel or lodging environment.
  • Experience creating, tracking and issuing digital room keys, access badges and FOB’s.
  • Outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in all interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suit, and accuracy with typing and data entry.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with hotel or lodging front desk customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative duties operating the billeting/housing office at Camp Umatilla Armed Forces Training Center.
  • Politely greet customers, handle customer requests and questions.
  • Issue keys and rooms to users.
  • Enter reservation data into a computer system which tracks guest usage.
  • Handle payments for reservations.
  • Issue and clear state buildings.
