Position is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner. Carries out Physician orders including but not limited to assisting with procedures, administering injections, performing phlebotomy, taking patient calls, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, calling in prescriptions, coordinating supply levels, pre-certifying patients medical services, and assisting the physician with all other patient care as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • No prior experience required
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic first aid knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Carries out Physician orders including but not limited to assisting with procedures, administering injections, performing phlebotomy, taking patient calls, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, calling in prescriptions, coordinating supply levels, pre-certifying patients medical services, and assisting the physician with all other patient care as requested.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and harmonious relationships with persons in other departments or outside the practice.
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication of information to all ages (Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric).
  • Shows responsiveness to all patients and office staff requests and needs.
  • Performs duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency.
  • Manages communication via telephones (Answer, Transfer), Orders/Messages, and Phone Triage.
  • Handles communication with Physician regarding orders and patient issues.
  • Addresses patient concerns, treatment, etc.
  • Communicates with staff regarding patient care, referrals, and precertification.
  • Seeks compliance with appropriate health and safety regulatory agencies.
  • Manages scheduling for Referrals, Appointments, Ancillaries, Surgeries (Inpatient, Outpatient), and Hospital Admissions.
  • Maintains Medical Records including Documentation, Forms, Chart Maintenance, Chart Filing/Pulling, Image Files, Faxing, Copying, Mail In, and Mail Out.
  • Performs Phlebotomy and Specimen Collection and Processing.
  • Participates in Proficiency Testing and Results Reporting for Lab.
  • Manages Medication Administration (Intravenously, Subcutaneously, Intramuscular, Intradermal, Orally, Topical, Suppository, Sublingual, Inhalants).
  • Handles Storage and Handling of medications, and Ordering/Maintaining Levels.
  • Prepares and maintains Exam Rooms.
  • Conducts Patient Interviews.
  • Acts as a Chaperone and assists patients as needed.
  • Assists with and performs minor procedures.
  • Performs Triage (by telephone or in person).
  • Implements Physician Orders.
  • Provides Patient Education.
  • Reports Results.
  • Completes Clinical Documentation.
  • Operates and maintains equipment including routine maintenance, ordering of supplies, log sheets, and cleaning for General Office Equipment, Patient Care Equipment, and Specialized Equipment.
  • Participates in In-service/Education including Certification/Licensure, Competency, Department Orientation, and Annual Training.
  • Maintains Log Sheets/Audits for Samples, Pharmacy, Mayday Equipment, Oxygen, and Equipment.
  • Manages Instruments including Stocking Appropriately, Cleaning/Sterilization, Knowledge of and usage, and Storage.
  • Provides Support and Guidance for Clinical Policies and Procedures.
  • Handles Precertification/Authorization.
  • Performs Coding for E & M / Basic Visits, Office Procedures/ Complex Visits, Surgeries, and Hospital Services.
  • Handles Correspondence, Statistical Reports, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
