Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic first aid knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Providing nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Carrying out Physician orders including but not limited to assisting with procedures, administering injections, performing phlebotomy, taking patient calls, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, calling in prescriptions, coordinating supply levels, pre-certifying patients medical services, and assisting the physician with all other patient care as requested.
  • Maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Responding to all patients and office staff requests and needs.
  • Performing duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency.
  • Communicating via telephone, correspondence, or personal meetings with persons in other departments or outside the practice.
  • Answering and transferring telephone calls.
  • Managing orders and messages.
  • Performing phone triage.
  • Communicating with physicians regarding orders and patient issues.
  • Communicating with patients regarding concerns and treatment.
  • Communicating with staff regarding patient care, referrals, and precertification.
  • Seeking compliance with appropriate health and safety regulatory agencies.
  • Scheduling referrals, appointments, ancillaries, surgeries, and hospital admissions.
  • Maintaining medical records, including documentation, chart maintenance, filing/pulling charts, image files, faxing, copying, and managing mail.
  • Performing phlebotomy.
  • Collecting and processing specimens.
  • Reporting lab results.
  • Administering medications intravenously, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, intradermally, orally, topically, as suppositories, sublingually, and via inhalants.
  • Properly storing and handling medications.
  • Ordering and maintaining medication levels.
  • Preparing and maintaining exam rooms.
  • Conducting patient interviews.
  • Assisting patients as needed (chaperone).
  • Assisting with and performing minor procedures.
  • Implementing Physician Orders.
  • Providing patient education.
  • Performing clinical documentation.
  • Operating and maintaining equipment, including routine maintenance, ordering supplies, managing log sheets, and cleaning.
  • Participating in in-service/education, including maintaining certification/licensure and competency through department orientation and annual training.
  • Managing log sheets and audits for samples, pharmacy, equipment, and oxygen.
  • Maintaining, cleaning, sterilizing, and storing instruments.
  • Providing support and guidance for clinical policies and procedures.
  • Performing precertification/authorization.
  • Performing coding for E&M/Basic Visits, Office Procedures/Complex Visits, Surgeries, and Hospital Services.
  • Managing correspondence.
  • Generating statistical reports.
  • Handling accounts payable and payroll.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
