Position is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner. Carries out Physician orders including but not limited to assisting with procedures, administering injections, performing phlebotomy, taking patient calls, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, calling in prescriptions, coordinating supply levels, pre-certifying patients medical services, and assisting the physician with all other patient care as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic first aid knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Carries out Physician orders including but not limited to assisting with procedures, administering injections, performing phlebotomy, taking patient calls, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, calling in prescriptions, coordinating supply levels, pre-certifying patients medical services, and assisting the physician with all other patient care as requested.

  • Has contact by phone, correspondence, or personal meetings with persons in other departments or outside the practice; tact is required in these contacts and the employee assumes the responsibility for harmonious relationships.
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication of information to all ages (Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric).
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to all patients and office staff requests and needs.
  • Performs duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency, i.e., fire or disaster.
  • Provides communication including answering and transferring telephones, handling orders/messages, and phone triage.
  • Handles physician communication regarding orders and patient issues.
  • Handles patient communication regarding concerns and treatment.
  • Handles staff communication regarding patient care, referrals, and precertification.
  • Understands and agrees to seek compliance with appropriate health and safety regulatory agencies.
  • Provides scheduling for referrals, appointments, ancillaries, surgeries (Inpatient, Outpatient), and hospital admissions.
  • Manages medical records including documentation, forms, chart maintenance, filing/pulling, image files, faxing, copying, mail in, and mail out.
  • Performs lab duties including phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, proficiency testing, and results reporting.
  • Manages medication including intravenous, subcutaneously, intramuscular, intradermal, orally, topical, suppository, sublingual, inhalants, storage and handling, and ordering/maintaining levels.
  • Provides patient care including exam room preparation and maintenance, conducting patient interviews, chaperoning, assisting/performing minor procedures, triage (by telephone or in person), implementing physician orders, patient education, results reporting, and clinical documentation.
  • Operates and is responsible for equipment including routine maintenance, ordering of supplies, log sheets, and cleaning of general office equipment, patient care equipment, and specialized equipment.
  • Participates in in-service/education including certification/licensure, competency, department orientation, and annual training.
  • Maintains log sheets/audits for samples, pharmacy, Mayday equipment, oxygen, and equipment.
  • Manages instruments including stocking, cleaning/sterilization, knowledge of and usage, and storage.
  • Provides support and guidance for clinical policies and procedures.
  • Handles precertification/authorization, coding (E&M/Basic Visits, Office Procedures/Complex Visits, Surgeries, Hospital Services), correspondence, statistical reports, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
