Position is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner. Carries out Physician orders including but not limited to assisting with procedures, administering injections, performing phlebotomy, taking patient calls, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, calling in prescriptions, coordinating supply levels, pre-certifying patients medical services, and assisting the physician with all other patient care as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic first aid knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assists with procedures.
  • Administers injections.
  • Performs phlebotomy.
  • Takes patient calls.
  • Cleans and stocks exam rooms.
  • Calls in prescriptions.
  • Coordinates supply levels.
  • Pre-certifies patients medical services.
  • Assists the physician with all other patient care as requested.
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Communicates appropriately with all ages.
  • Responds to all patients and office staff requests and needs.
  • Performs duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency.
  • Answers and transfers telephones.
  • Manages orders and messages.
  • Performs phone triage.
  • Manages physician orders, patient issues, etc.
  • Addresses patient concerns and treatment.
  • Manages staff patient care, referrals, and precertification.
  • Seeks compliance with appropriate health and safety regulatory agencies.
  • Schedules referrals, appointments, ancillaries, surgeries, and hospital admissions.
  • Performs medical records documentation, chart maintenance, filing/pulling, image files, faxing, copying, mail in, and mail out.
  • Performs phlebotomy, specimen collection and processing, and results reporting.
  • Manages medication administration (IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, oral, topical, suppository, sublingual, inhalants).
  • Manages medication storage and handling, and ordering/maintaining levels.
  • Prepares and maintains exam rooms.
  • Conducts patient interviews.
  • Assists patients as needed.
  • Assists with and performs minor procedures.
  • Implements Physician Orders.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Performs clinical documentation.
  • Operates and maintains general office equipment, patient care equipment, and specialized equipment.
  • Participates in in-service/education, including department orientation and annual training.
  • Maintains log sheets/audits for samples, pharmacy, equipment, etc.
  • Manages instruments including stocking, cleaning, sterilization, and storage.
  • Provides support and guidance for clinical policies and procedures.
  • Handles precertification/authorization, coding, correspondence, statistical reports, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
