About The Position

Position is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in a professional and courteous manner. Carries out Physician orders including but not limited to assisting with procedures, administering injections, performing phlebotomy, taking patient calls, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, calling in prescriptions, coordinating supply levels, pre-certifying patients medical services, and assisting the physician with all other patient care as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic first aid knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a positive attitude. Has contact by phone, correspondence, or personal meetings with persons in other departments or outside the practice; tact is required in these contacts and the employee assumes the responsibility for harmonious relationships.
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication of information to all ages (Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric).
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to all patients and office staff requests and needs.
  • Demonstrates performance of duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency, i.e., fire or disaster.
  • Provides/Performs Communication (Telephones, Orders/Messages, Phone Triage).
  • Provides/Performs Scheduling (Referrals, Appointments, Ancillaries, Surgeries, Hospital Admissions).
  • Provides/Performs Medical Records tasks (Documentation, Forms, Chart Maintenance, Filing/Pulling, Image Files, Faxing, Copying, Mail In/Out).
  • Provides/Performs Lab tasks (Phlebotomy, Specimen Collection and Processing, Proficiency Testing, Results Reporting).
  • Performs Medication Management (Intravenously, Subcutaneously, Intramuscular, Intradermal, Orally, Topical, Suppository, Sublingual, Inhalants, Storage and Handling, Ordering/Maintaining Levels).
  • Provides Patient Care (Exam Room Preparation & Maintenance, Conducts Patient Interview, Chaperone, Assisting/Performing minor procedures, Triage, Implement Physician Orders, Patient Education, Results Reporting, Clinical Documentation).
  • Operates and is responsible for equipment (including, but not limited to, routine maintenance, ordering of supplies, log sheets and cleaning).
  • Participates in In-service/Education (Certification/Licensure, Competency, Department Orientation, Annual Training).
  • Maintains Log Sheets/Audits (Samples, Pharmacy, Mayday Equipment, Oxygen, Equipment).
  • Manages Instruments (Stock Appropriately, Cleaning/Sterilization, Knowledge of and usage, Storage).
  • Provides Support and Guidance for Clinical Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs Other duties as assigned, including Precertification/Authorization, Coding, Correspondence, Statistical Reports, Accounts Payable, Payroll.
