About The Position

This position is for an Office Nurse at Oxford Urgent Care, a part of UMass Memorial Health. The role involves providing direct patient care, performing assessments, administering treatments as prescribed by physicians, documenting patient care, and developing patient/family educational plans. The nurse will also act as a role model, train and direct clinical staff, participate in interviewing and evaluating staff, triage phone calls, perform vital signs and visual acuity, assist physicians with procedures, perform venipuncture, EKGs, and administer medications and immunizations. The role also includes performing quality control testing and recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition and emergencies. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current licensure in the State of Massachusetts either LPN or RN.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an LPN or RN.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and lead and train a group of employees.
Knowledge of nursing procedures and practices.
Knowledge of office and laboratory procedures.
Knowledge of medical terminology and strong proficiency with Microsoft office applications and electronic health records.
Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements (unless certification, licensure or registration is required).

Responsibilities

Completes patient physical assessment.
Performs and/or delegates patient treatments as prescribed by the physician.
Documents patient care.
Develops and implements an educational plan for patient/family.
Acts as a role model for all clinical staff.
Trains, and provides direction/oversight to the clinical staff.
Participates in the interviewing and evaluating of the clinical staff.
Triages phone calls and executes appropriate follow through.
Performs vital signs, and visual acuity on designated patients and documents appropriately.
Assists physicians with technical procedures, such as outpatient surgical procedures, pap smears, sigmoidoscopies etc., assembling sterile instruments and supplies, participating in the set up, maintenance, and disassembly and cleaning of patient equipment.
Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12 lead EKGs and immunizations.
Administers immunizations, medications, IVs.
Performs quality control testing in compliance with CLIA regulations.
Recognizes changes in patient's physical and mental condition and takes appropriate actions.
Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
Provides nursing interventions to appropriate to patient's physical condition and emotional status.
