Office Lead/Project Manager
About The Position
Gonzalez Companies is a partner-managed firm providing comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. They are seeking an Office Lead/Project Manager to help serve their clients and community. This is a leadership role for a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and is passionate about building teams, delivering high-quality projects, and driving business growth. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership, business development, and operational skills to successfully manage projects and lead a growing office. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Ohio preferred or ability to obtain)
- 8+ years of civil engineering experience, including project management
- Demonstrated leadership, team management, and client relationship skills
- Experience in business development and project delivery preferred
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution
- Strong understanding of civil engineering design, permitting, and construction processes
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the office, including team development and daily operations
- Manage civil engineering projects from planning through delivery (scope, schedule, budget, quality)
- Serve as primary client contact and build strong, long-term relationships
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and support proposal development
- Lead and contribute to civil engineering design efforts, providing technical direction and hands-on involvement as needed
- Provide technical oversight and perform quality control on project deliverables
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards
- Mentor and develop staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
