About The Position

Gonzalez Companies is a partner-managed firm providing comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. They are seeking an Office Lead/Project Manager to help serve their clients and community. This is a leadership role for a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and is passionate about building teams, delivering high-quality projects, and driving business growth. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership, business development, and operational skills to successfully manage projects and lead a growing office. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Ohio preferred or ability to obtain)
  • 8+ years of civil engineering experience, including project management
  • Demonstrated leadership, team management, and client relationship skills
  • Experience in business development and project delivery preferred
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering design, permitting, and construction processes

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the office, including team development and daily operations
  • Manage civil engineering projects from planning through delivery (scope, schedule, budget, quality)
  • Serve as primary client contact and build strong, long-term relationships
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and support proposal development
  • Lead and contribute to civil engineering design efforts, providing technical direction and hands-on involvement as needed
  • Provide technical oversight and perform quality control on project deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards
  • Mentor and develop staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
