About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is currently seeking Office Engineers to join their Construction Engineering & Inspection team in Buffalo or Rochester, NY. The team oversees project construction from pre-construction through finalization, focusing on cost and schedule containment. They work on various projects including heavy highway, bridges, intersection and traffic signal improvements, marine improvements, water/wastewater transmission, building and vertical project management, park and recreation construction, and condition assessment and asset inventory. The Construction Engineering & Inspection team plays a vital role in inspecting, designing, rehabilitating, and constructing highways, roadways, and bridges across the United States, partnering with state departments of transportation, public agencies, and private developers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 5+ years of transportation construction experience desired.
  • Valid US driver's license required.
  • Comfortable with using computers and adapting to new software.
  • Strong communication and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET III or IV certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all project records, daily work reports (DWRs), and correspondence in accordance with owner’s guidelines.
  • Track completed work quantities and process monthly progress estimates/payments using software like AASHTOware or EBO.
  • Receive, review, process, and track contractor submittals, shop drawings, and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Initiate, review, and track change orders, force account work, and assist in claim resolution.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including state/local agencies, fire/police departments, and adjacent property owners and maintain minutes for all meetings.
  • Schedule material testing and maintain material acceptance records.
  • Monitor EEO, DBE, and trainee requirements, as well as contractor payroll and insurance compliance.
  • Assist in assembling final project documentation and records upon project completion.
