About The Position

The Federal Work Study Office Clerk / Administrative Assistant provides direct administrative and clerical support to the VP - Director of Business and Finance. In addition to general office support, this position serves as an administrative coordination resource for email and calendar organization, meeting scheduling, call coordination, action-item tracking, meeting recap preparation, document organization, and follow-up activities. The student employee will work in a professional environment supporting College leadership, faculty, staff, students, trustees, alumni, vendors, and visitors. Because the role may involve access to sensitive and non-public information, sound judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and responsible use of College systems are essential requirements of the position.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study and in good academic standing.
  • Professional, dependable, punctual, trustworthy, and able to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated judgment, discretion, maturity, and understanding of professional office decorum.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear professional emails, meeting notes, and follow-up summaries.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; comfort with Outlook email/calendar functions is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other virtual meeting platforms.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including copiers, printers, scanners, and multi-function devices.
  • Ability to follow instructions, ask questions when authority is unclear, and work both independently and collaboratively in a professional office environment.
  • Ability to adhere to Bennett College dress, conduct, technology, confidentiality, and workplace expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front desk and reception support for the Business and Finance office and greet faculty, staff, students, trustees, vendors, alumni, and visitors professionally.
  • Answer, screen, and route routine calls or requests and coordinate scheduling when appropriate.
  • Make copies, scan documents, prepare print jobs, create labels, files, packets, and other office materials as needed.
  • Sort, distribute, and deliver mail and packages to executives and office personnel.
  • Assist with meeting-room preparation, materials, supplies, and basic hospitality support for designated meetings and events.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and notify the supervisor when replenishment is needed.
  • Organize and maintain office files, records, and supply storage areas.
  • Operate standard office equipment, including copiers, printers, scanners, and multi-function devices.
  • Perform other administrative, clerical, or event-support duties as assigned.
