About The Position

Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company is seeking an Office Claims Representative in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The role resolves property damage and injury claims caused by or incurred by insureds by verifying coverage, determining liability, evaluating damages, and reaching settlements with the parties involved. The position operates on a hybrid home/office work schedule and includes a family-oriented work environment and a benefits package.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous insurance or customer service experience of at least two years may be substituted for a degree.
Must be able to obtain required adjuster licenses in applicable states within one year of hire.
Must be able to obtain an appraiser license for Florida and South Carolina within one year of hire.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Analyze policy contracts to determine coverage.
Negotiate fair settlements with insureds, third-party claimants, and/or legal representatives, and issue payment.
Collect settlement documents and prepare status reports for file documentation.
Investigate the facts surrounding claims through telephone, mail, email, and other available communication methods to determine liability.
Prepare status reports for the District Claims Manager and/or Office Claims Supervisor within timelines designated by those individuals.
Assist in catastrophe claims operations as needed.
Attend training sessions to develop the skills and ability to perform Claims Representative functions.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
