About The Position

The incumbent is part of a global public health organization and is expected to support the Florida Department of Health in Pasco County in its mission to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts and its vision to be the Healthiest State in the Nation. Furthermore, the incumbent is expected to incorporate the agency values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness and Excellence in all aspects of their work. This is work providing technical assistance for all internal DOH staff. Incumbent will monitor incoming phone calls and electronic communications channels in order to rapidly answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone or using remote methods. Scope of assistance provided will involve the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, commercial office productivity software as well as some specialty DOH provided applications, electronic mail, mobile devices, IP phone, and fax systems. Incumbent will maintain a help ticket records for of all customer interactions involving the installation, support and troubleshooting of these systems. Prepares new or repurposed computer workstations by installing DOH approved operating systems and software applications. Prepares surplus equipment for proper disposal or transfer by securely wiping all data from storage media. Installs and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment in accordance with DOH technology standards. Reads technical documentation, confers with users, and conducts computer diagnostics to determine nature of problems and provide technical assistance. Refers major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service. Develops instructions on use of office automation systems, imaging of computers and sanitization of information systems equipment. Mains continuous surveillance of desktop systems’ health and presence on the network using DOH approved monitoring methods. Keeps surveilled devices up to date and tracks device security compliance Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to interpret and respond to computer error messages.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and laptops, various types of printers and scanners.
  • Must have a valid FL Driver’s License.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and reaching, bending, stretching, twisting, and stooping.
