About The Position

The Department of Corrections is seeking to hire an Office Associate to process recommendations for the award, revocation, and restoration of good time. This role involves verifying and scheduling writs of habeas corpus, serving as the facility’s LEADS Coordinator, calculating good time approvals, keyboarding correspondence with legal terminology, and maintaining and filing documents. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can multitask.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 45 words per minute.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
  • Required to obtain a Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) certification within the probationary period (or within the first 4 months, if already certified in the title) of being placed into the position and maintain a current, valid certification while in the position.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.

Responsibilities

  • Processes various recommendations for award/revocation/restoration of good time.
  • Verifies and schedules writs of habeas corpus received.
  • Serves as Menard’s LEADS Coordinator.
  • Calculates various good time approvals, properly documenting both approved and disapproved good time.
  • Keyboards Record Office correspondence including memos and reports that have legal terminology and the need to apply understanding of terms to confirm clarify and accuracy.
  • Maintains and files required documents into individual in custody master files on a daily basis.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
