About The Position

This position serves as a support specialist in UW's College of Education, focusing on the placement and supervision of preservice teachers. The role involves performing complex administrative and management support tasks with discretionary authority, and administratively supervising comprehensive office operations and support staff for the department or unit.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree
  • 1 year progressively responsible work-related experience
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Placement Coordinator in making field placements for practicum and Residency experiences, including those for the COST program, as needed.
  • Contact district superintendents, HR representatives, and/or building principals as needed to arrange field placements.
  • Finalize and record international field placements through the Consortium of Overseas Student Teaching (COST) network in the UW student teaching data management system.
  • Arrange classroom and edTPA supervisors for all student teachers, contacting existing supervisors or seeking new ones.
  • Provide relevant details on duties, expectations, and remuneration to supervisors.
  • Train and maintain regular communication with field supervisors, including reviewing observation protocols, data reporting, and student support processes.
  • Maintain contact with supervisors throughout the semester to follow through on data reporting, share timelines, and respond to questions.
  • Maintain a database of field placements and supervision pairings in collaboration with the Placement Coordinator and Associate Dean.
  • Use the database system to communicate all arrangements with student teachers, mentor teachers, and supervisors.
  • Assist the Placement Coordinator in creating and processing agreements with non-Wyoming school districts.
  • Coordinate field placement arrangements, including addressing practicum and Residency issues as they arise, with the Placement Coordinator and the Associate Director of Student Teaching.
