About The Position

ChristianaCare's Vascular Surgery in Newark is looking for a detail-oriented, adaptable, and highly organized Medical Office Assistant I with strong communication skills and the ability to proactively solve problems in a fast-paced environment. Vascular Surgery is growing at ChristianaCare. A critically important service within the hospital, Vascular Surgery is medical specialty focused on diagnosing and treating diseases of the body’s vascular system- the arteries and veins- excluding the heart and brain. The Medical Office Assistant I is the first point of contact between the practice and the patient and is responsible for creating a friendly, welcoming calm and efficient environment for the practice. The Office Assistant serves patients with poise and compassion, fields phone calls, answers patient questions, schedules appointments, registers patients and updates EMR and represents the entire practice every time there is interaction with a patient.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Handles payments, verifies insurance coverage, coordinates referrals, and reconciles daily appointments and payments.
  • Manages communications by answering calls, relaying messages, and using EMR systems to coordinate with providers and staff.
  • Updates patients, schedules tests and appointments, maintains medical records, resolves patient issues, supports administrative tasks, and follows safety protocols, with additional duties as needed.
