About The Position

ChristianaCare's Vascular Surgery in Newark is seeking a professional, compassionate, dependable, detail-oriented Medical Assistant I with strong communication, integrity, and solid technical and clinical skills. Vascular Surgery is growing at ChristianaCare. A critically important service within the hospital, Vascular Surgery is medical specialty focused on diagnosing and treating diseases of the body’s vascular system- the arteries and veins- excluding the heart and brain. As a Medical Assistant I, you support physicians in virtual and on-site patient care, performing essential clinical and clerical duties to ensure quality care.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required
  • Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

Responsibilities

  • Greets and supports patients virtually and in person
  • Prepares patients for visits
  • Performs basic clinical tasks (e.g., testing, injections, EKGs)
  • Assists with exams
  • Maintains exam rooms and equipment
  • Manages EMR updates, patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling
  • Handles clerical duties
  • Troubleshoots video visits
  • Supports patient portal access
