About The Position

DLA Piper is seeking an Of Counsel with strong legal writing skills particularly in the area of pharmaceutical/medical device Daubert / Rule 702 motions practice to join its Litigation group. This position is open to any of our U.S. offices. The firm is committed to excellence in how they represent clients and develop their people. Essential job expectations include effectively communicating with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties; producing deliverables, answering phone calls, and replying to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner; providing timely, accurate, and quality work product; successfully meeting deadlines, expectations, and performing work duties as required; fostering positive work relationships; complying with all firm policies and practices; engaging in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed; ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment; and performing all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • JD
  • Strong academic credentials from nationally recognized schools
  • Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which you are applying
  • Must have a science background (MD, MPH, PharmD, Epidemiology) to be considered
  • 8+ years of experience (preferably gained while practicing at an AmLaw 100 firm)
  • Extensive experience writing briefs, including specifically Rule 702 of the Federal Rules of Evidence and Daubert issues
  • Experience with products liability litigation
