About The Position

The Of Counsel Attorney will handle litigation, provide accurate and timely counsel to executives, and stay updated on relevant legal changes to enhance the company's legal knowledge base. This role involves applying effective risk management techniques, offering proactive advice on legal issues, and communicating and negotiating with external parties. The attorney will also draft and solidify legal documents, deal with complex matters, and ensure compliance with internal governance policies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Doctor of Jurisprudence
Licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas
Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to work through complex issues
Ability to represent the company in various forums to foster the desires and image of the company in the community
Dependable, ethical, and trustworthy
Professional image at all times
Strong desire to provide exceptional customer service
Self-starter and able to work independently

Responsibilities

Handle litigation
Give accurate and timely counsel to executives
Keep up with current changes on all relevant areas of laws and contributing to the enhancement of the knowledge base of the company’s legal function
Give accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics
Collaborate with management to devise efficient defense strategies
Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues
Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights
Deal with complex matters
Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility
Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation
Specifying internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
