About The Position

CTL Engineering is hiring ODOT prequalified Inspectors for roadway/bridge projects. CTL Engineering is an award-winning, full-service consulting engineering firm with 15 locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA, with a rich history over 99 years in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry. We are looking for ODOT prequalified Inspectors who will play a key role in all aspects of construction administration, inspection and testing services for ODOT bridge and roadway projects in Central Ohio. You’ll leverage your expertise in construction inspection/testing and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies. This position works independently on broad projects under the direction of a Dept. Manager. Projects are typically in the greater Central Ohio region. Frequent travel within this region is expected. A stipend for personal vehicle use or a company vehicle may be provided, based on the assignment.

Requirements

ODOT prequalified: Project Inspector 1 or 2, ODOT Structures Inspector, ODOT Soils and Aggregate Inspector, ODOT Traffic Signal and Lighting Inspector, ODOT Construction Engineer Level 1
Construction inspection experience on ODOT funded projects.
Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with highway construction specifications and previous field experience is a plus.
Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing is a plus.
Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, structural steel and fireproofing, etc. is a plus.
Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET Level II Soils, ICC Special inspections.

Responsibilities

Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.
Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects.
Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
