About The Position

CTL Engineering is hiring ODOT prequalified Inspectors for roadway/bridge projects, initially the large I-90 project in Cuyahoga county. CTL Engineering is an award winning, full service consulting engineering firm with (15) locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA with a rich history over our (99) years in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry. We are looking for ODOT prequalified Inspectors (structures) who will play a key role in all aspects of construction administration, inspection and testing services for ODOT bridge and roadway projects in Northeast Ohio. You’ll leverage your expertise in construction inspection/testing and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies. This position works independently on broad projects under direction of a Dept. Manager. Projects are typically in the greater Cleveland/northeast Ohio region. Frequent travel within this region is expected. Mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use (or a company vehicle may be provided, based on the assignment).

Requirements

  • ODOT prequalified Structures Inspector is required
  • Construction inspection experience on ODOT funded projects.
  • Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
  • Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.
  • Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects.
  • Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
  • Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
  • Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
  • Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
  • Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
