The Staff Occupational Therapist Assistant assists the Staff Occupational Therapist with resident related activities and direct resident care. This role involves treating residents as directed by the Occupational Therapist, completing timely and accurate documentation, and maintaining a safe treatment environment. The assistant also participates in resident care conferences, assists the nursing department with training, and communicates progress and discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team, physicians, nursing staff, residents, and families. Additionally, they provide in-services, educate residents and families on treatment goals and home programs, and recommend necessary durable medical equipment to enhance resident independence in ADLs. Maintaining confidentiality of resident and company information, reporting equipment issues, and contributing to quality assurance initiatives are also key aspects of this position. The role requires the ability to relate positively and effectively with residents, families, staff, and colleagues.
