Occupational Therapy Asst OP
About The Position
Westminster Communities of Florida is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for its Westminster Suncoast and Westminster Palms facilities. This full-time position splits hours between the two facilities and reports to the Director of Out-Patient Therapy. The assistant carries out resident care plans and goals established by the Occupational Therapist, monitors progress, assists with evaluations, and completes required documentation and screenings. Westminster Communities of Florida is a not-for-profit senior living organization serving residents through Life Plan Communities and affordable Rental Retirement Communities, with services including independent living, assisted living, nursing care, home care, pharmacy, therapy, and affordable senior housing.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an AOTA-accredited program.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in states that regulate Occupational Therapy Assistants.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time-management skills.
- Ability to function effectively in multifaceted systems and interact effectively with all levels of staff and residents.
Responsibilities
- Monitor residents’ progress and communicate with the Occupational Therapist (OT).
- Carry out established resident care plans and goals as designated by the OT.
- Assist the OT during resident evaluations.
- Maintain system documentation of residents’ activities, record progress, and document billing activities.
- Perform residents’ home assessments as part of the discharge process, as directed by the OT.
- Perform resident screenings during admission and quarterly and annual screenings to determine the need for therapy, as directed by the OT.
