About The Position

Occupational therapists lead the process in the development, implementation, and coordination of occupational therapy services. This role involves providing direct services to students, conducting assessments, documenting student progress, and collaborating with school staff, families, physicians, and other agencies.

Requirements

  • License from the State of Missouri to practice OT
  • Certification by National Registration Exam

Responsibilities

  • Provides occupational therapy services, as identified through the IEP/504 plan, to students.
  • Administers assessments to determine a student’s level of functioning relative to their age and educational placement in such areas as fine/gross motor skill development, sensory motor integration, self-care and the activities of daily living.
  • Writes assessment reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies.
  • Writes individual student goals as part of the IEP.
  • Maintains progress records.
  • Participates in the IEP meeting.
  • Works collaboratively as a team member of school professional staff.
  • Maintains contact with school, family, physicians and agencies.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
