About The Position

Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC) is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist to help older adults preserve independence, safety, and quality of life at The Crossings in League City, Texas. The role involves designing practical, individualized therapy that supports the routines, roles, and activities each resident values most.

MRC is a nonprofit, faith-based organization with eight senior living communities in Texas. Its mission is to honor and serve older adults as an expression of Christ’s love, guided by its ICARE values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
• Current, unrestricted Occupational Therapist license in the state of Texas.
• Genuine love for serving older adults and helping them retain choice, purpose, and independence.
• Creative problem-solving and the ability to adapt activities to different strengths and limitations.
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and time-management skills.
• Clear, compassionate communication and a supportive teaching style.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate each resident’s functional abilities, daily routines, environment, and barriers to independence.
• Develop individualized plans of care with functional, measurable short- and long-term goals.
• Select and adapt treatment models, activities, and interventions based on each resident’s needs and abilities.
• Support safe participation in activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.
• Teach new approaches to tasks and break complex activities into achievable steps.
• Recommend environmental modifications, adaptive equipment, and assistive devices, and provide training in their use.
• Educate residents, families, caregivers, and team members to promote carryover and safety.
• Track progress, adjust treatment as needed, and complete clinical documentation accurately and on time.
