About The Position

Trinity Health Chelsea Hospital is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist for their inpatient rehab unit. This role is PRN-Contingent, Non-Benefitted, and operates on a Day Shift. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients, participating in all aspects of their care including compliance and regulatory requirements, attending team conferences, completing family/care partner training, making recommendations for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) upon discharge, and working with the team to facilitate successful discharge to a community setting. Weekends and holidays are required on a rotating basis. Occasional work on the acute care unit may be necessary based on census and staffing. A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university and licensure in the State of Michigan are required. Certification with the NBCOT is preferred. Experience working with the SCI and TBI population is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation and treatment for patients on inpatient rehab unit.
  • Participate in all aspects of patient care including compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice.
  • Demonstrate unit/area competencies.
  • Identify and assist in resolution of problems related to safety, sanitation and maintenance of the environment.
  • Practice effective communication in all interactions (patient, visitor, co-worker, etc.).
  • Promote a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.
  • Orient patients and families to the therapeutic purposes and procedures of Occupational Therapy.
  • Instruct patients and families in individualized home programs.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Provide for his/her own professional growth and education and contribute to staff development activities.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy fieldwork students as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator or Student Program Coordinator.
  • Stay up to date on all participating insurance guidelines for rehabilitation services.
  • Provide thorough documentation on each patient interaction. Documentation must be timely and include all pertinent information required by state law, accrediting agencies and 3rd party payers.
  • Complete daily charges for each patient while adhering to ethical practices per insurance guidelines for each payer.
  • Work with site leader and secretarial staff to ensure schedules are managed well to achieve targeted productivity and clinic budget.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
