About The Position

Trinity Health Chelsea Hospital is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist for their inpatient rehab unit and acute care. This PRN-Contingent, Non-Benefitted, Day Shift position offers a flat rate of $51.27. The role involves providing evaluation and treatment, participating in all aspects of patient care including compliance and regulatory requirements, attending team conferences, completing family/care partner training, making recommendations for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) upon discharge, and working with the team to facilitate successful discharge to a community setting. Weekends and holidays are required on a rotating basis. Experience with SCI and TBI populations is preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from accredited university.
  • Licensure in the State of Michigan.

  • Experience working with SCI and TBI population.
  • Certification with the NBCOT.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation and treatment for patients on inpatient rehab unit and acute care.
  • Participate in all aspects of patient care including compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Attend team conferences.
  • Complete family/care partner training.
  • Make recommendations for DME upon discharge.
  • Work with team to facilitate successful discharge to community setting.
  • Provide quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice.
  • Demonstrate unit/area competencies.
  • Identify and assist in resolution of problems related to safety, sanitation and maintenance of the environment.
  • Practice effective communication in all interactions (patient, visitor, co-worker, etc.).
  • Promote a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.
  • Orient patients and families to the therapeutic purposes and procedures of Occupational Therapy.
  • Instruct patients and families in individualized home programs.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Provide for his/her own professional growth and education and contribute to staff development activities.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy fieldwork students as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator or Student Program Coordinator.
  • Stay up to date on all participating insurance guidelines for rehabilitation services.
  • Provide thorough documentation on each patient interaction. Documentation must be timely and include all pertinent information required by state law, accrediting agencies and 3rd party payers.
  • Complete daily charges for each patient while adhering to ethical practices per insurance guidelines for each payer.
  • Work with site leader and secretarial staff to ensure schedules are managed well to achieve targeted productivity and clinic budget.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
