About The Position

The Occupational Therapist provides social-emotional services and occupational therapy support to students who need additional help to thrive in school. The role delivers services in accordance with SESI standards and collaborates with school personnel and families to support student success. The therapist works with students from kindergarten through eighth grade and supports the integration of occupational therapy strategies into educational programs and students’ home environments.

Requirements

• Master’s degree.
• Professional licensure from the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of experience in a school, special education, or behavioral health setting working with children and adolescents is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess each new student and evaluate occupational therapy needs.
• Monitor therapy programs and consult with educational staff on including appropriate occupational therapy treatment strategies in students’ educational programs.
• Educate teachers and parents, verbally or in writing, on therapy techniques that can be used in the classroom or at home.
• Consult on IEPs and provide required documentation of students’ needs and supports.
• Monitor and manage the handwriting and keyboarding curriculum, and train staff and parents in applicable techniques.
• Provide group therapy interventions for kindergarten through eighth-grade classes.
• Assess and evaluate students’ needs for individual or small-group occupational therapy sessions.
• Attend parent/teacher meetings for students receiving occupational therapy as needed.
