IWK Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join their Community and School Therapy Team within Children's Rehabilitation Services. This role involves providing assessment, intervention, and follow-up/evaluation for children with occupational performance challenges related to neurodevelopmental concerns. The Occupational Therapist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, serving school-aged children in the Central Health Zone (Halifax area, Eastern Shore, and West Hants). Services can be delivered in homes, community settings, at the IWK, or in schools across various educational centers. The position may involve direct service, consultation, or monitoring, and the therapist will supervise Rehabilitation Assistants as needed. The successful candidate will stay current on best practices, liaise with clients, families, team members, and school staff to ensure continuity of care, and participate in program planning and evaluation. This role requires local and regional travel, daily recording of workload, and adherence to documentation guidelines. The Occupational Therapist collaborates with the Community and School Therapy team leader and the Occupational Therapy professional practice leader, participating in various meetings and potentially preceptoring students. There is a shared responsibility for coverage throughout IWK Health as required.
