Requirements

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program
• Completion of Level I and Level II supervised fieldwork
• Current NBCOT certification
• Active Occupational Therapy license in the state of New Mexico
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Minimum of 1 year of Occupational Therapy experience

Nice To Haves

• Acute care experience preferred (ICU, trauma, or neurological units)
• Strong knowledge of adaptive equipment, splints, lifts, and mobility training
• Experience with EMR systems preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong critical thinking and clinical problem-solving abilities
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Solid understanding of anatomy, psychology, and therapeutic interventions

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and functional abilities
• Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
• Provide training in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and mobility to promote independence
• Recommend and instruct patients on the use of adaptive equipment
• Educate patients, caregivers, and families on therapeutic strategies and home safety
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record (EMR) documentation and progress reports
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards
• Participate in continuing education, workshops, and professional development activities
• Perform other duties as assigned
