About The Position

Camillus House is seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to provide comprehensive, trauma-informed occupational therapy services. This role supports clients in developing, recovering, and maintaining essential life skills for independent living and community integration. The ideal candidate will have a client-centered approach, be comfortable working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health conditions, and possess strong clinical and documentation skills. This is a 1099 independent contractor position.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Active and unrestricted Florida Occupational Therapist license.
  • Current NBCOT certification.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills.
  • Cultural competence and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations, including assessments of ADLs and IADLs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with client goals, clinical recommendations, and program needs.
  • Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions focused on life skills development, cognitive functioning, emotional regulation, vocational readiness, and community reintegration.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions as clinically appropriate.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including behavioral health, medical, and case management staff.
  • Participate in case conferences, treatment team meetings, and discharge planning.
  • Provide recommendations for adaptive equipment and environmental modifications when needed.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency policy and regulatory standards (e.g., Medicaid/Medicare and applicable federal regulations).
  • Ensure all documentation is completed within required timeframes (typically within 72 hours or per agency standard).
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and adhere to all organizational policies and ethical standards.
