About The Position

Daybreak seeks licensed mental health clinician to provide behavioral health services as an Independent Contractor (1099) Therapist. Contractors deliver diagnostic assessments, individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and care coordination services to youth and young adults served by Daybreak, using evidence-based clinical practices. Contractors maintain autonomy over their clinical practice and schedule while collaborating with Daybreak to support high-quality, ethical, and timely care delivery. Services may be provided during normal business hours, evenings, or weekends, based on contractor availability and client need. Services may be delivered in-office and/or in the community. This role is a 1099 Independent Contractor position. Contractors are not employees and are responsible for their own taxes, benefits, insurance, and licensure requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience preferred.
  • Active, unrestricted license in Ohio: LSW or LPC required
  • Ability to conduct diagnostic assessments for adults and children.
  • Proficiency in individual and group psychotherapy.
  • Strong crisis intervention, safety planning, and risk assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of community mental health systems and referral resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary care environment.
  • Competency in basic computer systems, including electronic health records and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • LISW or LPCC preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments for youth, young adults, and adults as assigned.
  • Engage clients in person-centered treatment planning.
  • Develop individualized service plans consistent with ethical and professional standards.
  • Participate, as agreed, in crisis intervention coverage, including risk assessments, safety planning, and coordination with Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) or hospitalization screening when clinically indicated.
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy utilizing evidence-based modalities.
  • Adapt therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of Daybreak’s populations, including but not limited to unhoused youth, LGBTQ+ youth, and other special populations.
  • Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups (e.g., coping skills, emotional regulation, life skills).
  • Identify and refer clients to external community-based services that fall outside Daybreak’s scope of care.
  • Provide referrals related to substance use treatment, housing supports, and identity-affirming services as clinically appropriate.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop discharge and transition plans that promote continuity of care and access to ongoing supports following program completion or disengagement.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in accordance with ethical standards, funder requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Submit clinical documentation within 72 business hours of service delivery to support timely billing and continuity of care.
