About The Position

Select Medical Rehabilitation in Tallahassee is hiring a full-time Occupational Therapist for critical illness and inpatient rehabilitation services. The position is based inside Select Specialty Hospital – Tallahassee, a critical illness recovery hospital with an acute rehabilitation unit. The hospital provides post-ICU care for critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery, as well as rehabilitation for people with brain or spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas.

The Occupational Therapist evaluates assigned patients and develops, implements, and modifies treatment plans according to patient needs and physician direction. The role includes directing discipline-specific therapy services, designing functional treatment programs to support patients’ return to community activities, and educating patients, families, students, coworkers, and oneself.

Requirements

• Current and valid state licensure as an Occupational Therapist, or eligibility for state licensure.
• Certified BLS, or completion of BLS within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate assigned patients and develop, implement, and modify treatment plans in accordance with patient needs and physician direction.
• Delegate and direct discipline-specific therapy services for assigned patients.
• Design functional treatment programs that support an effective return to community activities.
• Educate patients, families, students, coworkers, and oneself.
• Perform other professional duties associated with patient care, development of discipline-specific therapy services, and program delivery.
