About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking an Occupational Therapist (Per Diem) to join the team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem Hospital. Harlem Hospital is a large acute care facility serving Central Harlem and is the only Safety Net Hospital in Northern Manhattan. It is recognized for its centers of excellence in Bariatric Surgery, Breast Imaging, and Sexual Assault Forensics, and maintains a strong academic affiliation with Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. The Department is part of a 280-bed acute care facility that includes various specialized units such as ICU, BICU, NICU, PICU, CCU, step-down floors, and ambulatory services. The role involves treating patients on acute and/or ambulatory services, maintaining treatment equipment, ensuring a safe environment, and keeping accurate patient records.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy program with a BS or higher in Occupational Therapy
• Current NYS License

Responsibilities

• Treats patients on the acute and/or ambulatory services.
• Assists with maintaining treatment equipment and ensuring a safe environment for the patients.
• Maintains accurate record of patient evaluations, progress, recommendations, and goals.
• Supervises student interns and volunteers as assigned.
• Assists the supervisor or chief in preparing daily stats.
• Participates in the clinical education program for student therapists by mentoring a student intern.
• Educates patient and/or family regarding the occupational therapy aspects of diagnosis, treatment plan, and prognosis in an appropriate manner.
